We were so honored when the City of South Bend’s Parks and Recreation Department asked us to help decorate for the Grand Opening of the new and improved Howard Park Ice Rink and skate path last Friday. But we were floored when my daughter, Lilli, and our employee Andrea’s daughter, Macy, got to be the very first people on the ice that night! Both girls have conditions that limit their gross motor skills (like walking), and the city wanted to showcase the fact that the new rink is handicap accessible. How cool is that?
We designed a fun + whimsical area with cocktail tables near a fabulous fireplace inside the lodge at the new park. We’re talking all those spunky holidays colors – purples, blues, fuchsia and others – to accentuate the fresh + modern feel of that renovated space. Then later in the evening, the four of us took the ice together and it was pure holiday magic. I wish you could have seen Lilli when the fireworks started… they are her absolute favorite thing and she loved every second. We’re so grateful for this memory!
